Two women and one pregnant mother, have been confirmed dead at Kintampo on Friday, February 21, 2020 after a vehicle they were traveling with, crashed into a cargo truck with logs.
The yet-to-be-identified victims were trapped under logs for two hours before Ghana National Fire Service personnel were able to clear the logs and removed them.
According to Adom News correspondent, Wiafe Akenten, the women were pronounced dead at the Kintampo Government Hospital few minutes after they arrived at the facility.
The women were traveling in a Vibe Pontiac vehicle with registration number WR 3217 – 13 which was being driven by one of them when they collided with a DAF truck also registered GE 2539 – 13.
Fortunately for the passengers on board the cargo truck which was traveling from Dunkwa in the Central Region to Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, they escaped unscratched.
Per Abdul Mubarak, the driver’s mate, they saw the vehicle of the victims coming towards their lane but an attempt by his driver to avoid a head-on collision, failed as he lost control of the steering wheel.
Within seconds the cargo truck had crashed into the Pontiac, as a result both vehicles veered off the road and the truck landed on the Pontiac Vibe, which flattened and trapped it.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Kintampo mortuary. Police have launched investigation into the accident.
