Reduce fuel prices, address water shortage during lockdown – Sammy Gyamfi urges government

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) supports calls on government to drastically reduce fuel prices as parts of the country start a 14-day lockdown.

The opposition party said the reduction is to cushion commercial drivers and car owners who would be limiting the number of passengers on board as part of social distancing protocol.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the party, a reduction will buttress efforts by these drivers and ensure voluntary adherence to the directive announced by President Akufo-Addo.

While praising the president for the partial lockdown, he also called for adequate protection for frontline health workers involved in the fight against the virus.

He also urged government to address the water shortage Ghanaians in several parts of Accra are experiencing, so they can have access to potable water during the 14-day lockdown which starts today, March 30, 2020.
