Michael Essien declares his support for the legalization of LGBTQI+ in Ghana
Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien has declared support for Lesbian, Gay, Bis3xuals, Transgender and Queer Inters3x (LGBTQI) community in Ghana.
“We see you, we hear you, we support you. Our LGBTQIA plus community in Ghana,” he said in an instagram post.
Essien’s comments come after Police later raided the LGBTQI centre last week and closed down the office.
According to the footballer, he wants equality to reign in the country. Everyone must feel free to do what they prefer. Therefore he’s urging Ghanaians to support equality.

Meanwhile, The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party has challenged former President John Mahama to respond to allegations that he has signed a pact with the LGBTQI+ (Lesbian, gay, bi-s3xual trans, queer, inters3x) community to champion their agenda in Ghana.
