The government in his 5th address established that some food items will be distributed to families who are finding it difficult to feed themselves due to the lockdown imposed.
The aim of the food distribution is to relieve families of the burden of having to sneak out to find something for themselves.
So far So Good! As the government had commenced the distribution of the food items as promised.
The mode of distribution is where the problem is now, as citizens keep fighting over the food especially the last set of items.
In the last set, people tend to do everything possible to arrive home with the food even if it involves ‘fighting’ for it.
That’s exactly what the residents of Ejisu in the Ashanti region are doing now.
In a video making rounds on social media, the said citizens were captured wrestling over a few remaining food items.
According to the voice behind the camera that took the video, the food item was just a bag of rice, 5kg to be precise.
She Stated that the rice does not even cost more than Ghc 30.00 which means (to her) it is too cheap for them to fight over it.
A voice nearby later explained that there were 3 bags of the 5kg rice remaining though but judging from the large number of people gathered there, that wouldn’t be enough.
