The Ghana Education Service(GES) acting in concert with the Ghana Health Service(GHS) has released a communique in addressing the confirmed COVID-19 cases from some second cycle institutions including Accra Girls Senior High School.
Chaotic scenes from the Accra Girls Senior High School were all over the news yesterday July 6, 2020, as students were seen demonstrating and chanting “We will go home”.
This confusion came in the wake of 6 students, a teacher and his spouse all confirmed to have contracted the deadly coronavirus at the school.
This caused a major uproar as members of the general public cautioned the government to reconsider its decision to allow Senior High School students back in school.
However, the GHS in conjunction with the GES have in an attempt to calm the nerves of the general public and parents issued a media release to address the issue.
In their statement, they explained that a team of experts from the Ghana Health Service led by national officers and their colleagues from the Ghana Education Service has immediately put measures in place to help manage the situation.
The press release stated that the confirmed positive cases have been identified and sent to a treatment center where they are responding to treatment.
Apparently, contact tracing has already begun as contacts of the positive cases have been identified to be tested to avoid further spread.
The authorities, therefore, assured parents that all protocols necessary were in place to ensure that the virus does not take a cancerous effect on the students.
