It is better to do songs that address social issues than songs that will make people dance – Kofi Kinaata

Kofi Kinaata who was originally born as Kofi King Arthur is known to produce songs with good contents that inspire people to action, condemn the wrong or commend the good side of life. His songs throw more light on the important issues of the society that many fail or are scared to talk about.

Kofi recently visited the state and thus paid a visit to Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Barfuor Adjei-Barwah at the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington DC on Friday, 7 February 2020. He received a lot of commendation from the diplomat on the great role he is playing through his music to help shape the behavior of society.

The ‘Things Fall Apart’ crooner in their conversation stated that he draws inspiration for his songs from societal observations and Sometimes reggae . According to him, he prefer composing songs that will last longer due to the rich contents than songs that will disappear within a year.

He said: “Addressing social issues through contemporary music is not the most popular thing to do as an artist. You risk losing fans who want to dance and enjoy. But I have resolved to do it because it comes from a deep place in my heart.”
