Gov’t ceases GHC350k donated to amputee hawker after detecting lies in her story

The Lagos state government has ceased the amputee lady from accessing the N25 million (over GHC350, 000) that was donated to her by Nigerians.

The ampvtee lady identified as Mary Daniels who was hawking water and drinks in Oshodi, a town in Nigeria, gained sympathy from netizens after witnessing her condition.

Mary was given the opportunity to tell her story.

The Nation reported that some lies were found in the story of the young woman. Mary had claimed that she lost her leg to an accident.

Furthermore, she disclosed that, her parent also died in the accident and her grandmother is the only one left; and she had to hawk to put food on the table.

However, shortly after her birthday, the government found out that Mary’s father is alive and that her leg had been amputated from birth.

Well, the skeletons in Mary’s cupboard was revealed after people she worked with started to threaten to expose her if she does not give them their share of the donation.

Nigerians have urged the government to give the money to her.

The special adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on civic engagement, Aderemi Adebowale, made this known on Monday, April, 12.
