The New Patriotic Party (NPP) official informed journalists about the EC’s latest decision after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting with political parties on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in Accra Ghana.
The EC held the IPAC meeting with political parties at its headquarters to discuss matters and issues regarding the upcoming presidential and parliamentary polls.
“From this meeting, they stated that by the end of June, it is likely for us to start the registration exercise. They’ve slated it for the end of June and very soon per the law 21 days to any national exercise they need to inform us. So the specific date in June will be given to us later,” Mr. Boadu, General secretary for NPP stated.
He also made it known that, EC outlined safety measures to help contain the Coronavirus during the compilation of the voters’ register.
Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) did not attend the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting at the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to reports, the NDC is not in support of the EC’s decision to compile a new register for the 2020 election.
